Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire Thetford, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address must be presented, along with payment information and a security deposit. Any further requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement also apply.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or at our Thetford office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The total payment and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions handled securely by trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the vehicle. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle must also be returned with the same fuel level; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. Insurance and Liability Terms

Additional insurance options may be offered to help mitigate your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be responsible for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Usage Restrictions for Rentals
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous pursuits is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly forbidden. Sub-leasing the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. The vehicle must only be used for its intended purposes, and it is important to adhere to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the specified geographical boundaries without prior consent is not acceptable.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Thetford is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the total amount paid for your rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to claims for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
