Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive during the booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your responsibilities associated with the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Thetford, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid driving license, appropriate for the chosen vehicle category, is required and must have been held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, renters must present valid identification, proof of current address, and payment information, including a security deposit. Any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be fulfilled.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Thetford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, please conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. It is expected that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when collected, as refueling charges will apply for lower fuel levels. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during your rental, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals in Thetford include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information, including excess amounts, will be outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice provided. For specific information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities, including racing or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose and within specified passenger and weight limits. Additionally, driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Thetford will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the rental amount paid in the past 12 months, excluding cases of negligence leading to death or personal injury, or instances of fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
10. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Modifications take effect as soon as they are published on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
